Koloyan Project Hopscotch is committed to supporting various humanitarian projects and in particular, projects that improve the lives of children with special needs. One distinguished friend, Dr. Garen Koloyan, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and pioneer of surgical excellence in both Armenia and Georgia, shared his current project goals of obtaining a neuro-monitoring machine. A neuro-monitoring machine is a special apparatus which allows control of the spinal cord function during a scoliosis surgery. This helps prevent spinal cord injury during the surgical intervention and reduces the time of the surgery, which enhances outcome and prognosis. Dr. Koloyan has already received funds to support the training for doctors and a portion of the funding has been secured for the purchase of the machine. The total cost of the machine will be approximately $32,000. $12,000 has already been collected in donations thus far, but we still need your help in securing an additional goal of $20,000 to make this dream a reality and part of the gold standard care for children in need of this delicate surgery.
